Statement of Tribute: Dad was a faith-filled, loving and vibrant man who died just one year into his well deserved retirement. The ascending dissection began on a Saturday and he didn't know what was happening, just severe low back pain. When finally at the ER early Sunday morning, as he was going to surgery, his last words were 'pray for my team'. The surgeon was able to replace the section of dissected aorta but Dad was not able to survive coming off the heart/lung bypass; too much damage was already done to his organs. We surrounded him as he took his last breath on this earth and entered into eternal life with his Savior. To Dad, life was "marvy" - and we honor his wonderful attitude and share it with others, and also raise awareness about aortic dissection.
